“Tracking Sandy: Monmouth County Remembers”

This exhibition is set to open on October 29 at the Museum in Freehold to mark the fifth anniversary of the storm making landfall along our shores. There will be an opening reception from 1-4 pm. It will explore the impact of this record storm and its effects on the people and communities in this area, using their own words, photographs, and artifacts.

Polite and Useful Education: Pictorial Needlework Embroidery An exhibit of pictorial embroidery will open at the Association’s museum on 12 October. Eight works ranging in date from 1706 to 1985 represent the highest achievement in female needlework art, being the culmination of a young girl’s training with the needle. They include such subjects as religious scenes, mourning memorials, depictions of buildings, and simply decorative designs. Tracking Sandy: Monmouth County Remembers will close after exploring the impact of Superstorm Sandy on Monmouth County for over a year on Saturday, November 24, 2018. To commemorate the 5th Anniversary of the natural disaster, Monmouth County Historical Association prepared our first ever crowd-sourced exhibition, hearing the story of Sandy from those who lived through it.
