HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

Judge Richard Hartshorne was born on February 29, 1888, in Newark, New Jersey. He died in September 19, 1975, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a U.S. District Court Judge for New Jersey from 1951 to 1961.

 

DESCRIPTION OF COLLECTION

This collection contains the extensive notes, newspaper clippings, photographs, and correspondence collected by Judge Richard Hartshorne as he compiled his family's history.
